Manchester’s Circle Square development is fast becoming one of the hottest places in town to enjoy Asian cuisine, not only welcoming the uber-cool Hello Oriental venue last year, but now Monkey Trio bar – which has arrived this June and is Manchester’s first-ever Japanese sake bar.
Set to bring sake, whiskies and matcha beers, guests can now enjoy the unique bar, however, be warned, if you’ve not had sake before, you might wanna go easy! The traditional Japanese alcoholic beverage boasts a 15–22% ABV, and is served in small cups called ‘Choko’ to sip from. At Monkey Trio you can enjoy premium sake as well as ones in fruity flavours such as umeshu, mango and yuzu.
Monkey Trio is also offering a sake flight so you can experience the Japanese spirit in all its glory. Guests can enjoy 3 different sakes alongside a bottle of sparkling sake for £30 and the bar team will be on hand to explain each drink.
The brand new bar at Circle Square also boasts a number of Japanese-inspired cocktails such as Ume Sour (sweet umeshu, tangy lemon, and creamy egg white with Angostura bitters); Haku Kohi (cold brew coffee, Japanese vodka, sweet liqueur with fragrant vanilla); Shirayuki Sparkler (sparkling sake, crème de cassis and notes of strawberry, basil and lemon). Plus, you’ll find cocktails influenced by the notes of green tea as well as spin on the classic Old Fashioned featuring smooth Nikka whisky, kuromistu syrup, aromatic bitters and hint of orange.
Monkey Trio joins the likes of Mr Su, Canvas Social, Bird of Prey and Tahi Eatery, all located in the buzzing area of Circle Square just off Oxford Road.
