They’ve been spotted filming in Didsbury.
Following an announcement of a whole new roster of Sky Originals for 2021, the creators of Shameless are returning to Manchester – this time, for new crime drama Wolfe.
Starring Babou Ceesay (Rogue One, Guerilla), the production team have been spotted in Didsbury lately, making it just one of many productions flocking to Manchester to use our city as its backdrop. The series will follow a lauded forensic pathologist who works alongside the police to help solve crimes.
The synopsis reads: “Wolfe runs the local university forensics department working hand-in-hand with the police to investigate crime scenes and pass on his laser sharp insight to the next generation of crime fighters.
“Half genius, half liability – he’s worth the hassle as he gets results.
“Each week Wolfe is propelled into a new environment to piece together the parts- in some cases literally – to solve the crime. One thing is for sure though, he won’t be doing it in a way anybody expected.”
The character of Professor Wolfe Kinteh, who is considered the best investigator in the North, will battle struggles of his own alongside the ‘crime of the week’.
Amanda Abbington (Mr Selfridge, Sherlock) and Natalia Tena (GoT, Harry Potter) are also set to star, with a number of filming locations reportedly being used in Didsbury. The series is written by Paul Abbott, the man behind hit Channel 4 show Shameless and is currently set to air this Autumn.
The most recent productions to film in Manchester include The Crown, The Stranger, and upcoming drama starring Sheridan Smith, No Return.
