But over in Stockport, Pear Mill has taken a different approach—transforming its massive space into a preloved paradise known as The Vintage Emporium.
Construction on this iconic site began in 1908 under the Pear Spinning Company. Following multiple delays and a brush with bankruptcy as the cotton boom cooled off, it finally kicked into production in July 1913. Standing as one of the very last cotton spinning mills ever built in the region, it remains a true piece of local history.
From the outside, it looks like your classic Mancunian red-brick mill with a towering chimney peeking through the trees. Step inside, however, and you’ll find a massive treasure trove packed with vintage clothes, music, retro furniture, rare books, and quirky collectibles.
