We’re very proud of our musical heritage here in Manchester, especially that which came from the Hacienda and acid house days. Now a recent study by DJ Tech Reviews has revealed that Warehouse Project in Manchester is the world’s favourite nightclub!
Taking into account social media interactions, followers and popularity, as well as Google reviews and searches, the website has determined a top 10 list of most-loved DJ club venues in the world, with the soon to be closed Printworks in London, and iconic Ibiza club Ushuaïa falling behind Warehouse Project.
The study determined that Warehouse Project Manchester is officially the world’s favourite nightclub, with a total score of 8.31/10. The Manchester venue has over 81 million views on TikTok and has also seen a sharp rise in popularity, with Google searches of the venue increasing by 105% since 2019. The Warehouse Project has played host to a number of internationally acclaimed DJs including Carl Cox, Annie Mac, and Peggy Gou, as well as musicians such as Happy Mondays, The Prodigy and Disclosure.
Warehouse Project is the brainchild of Manchester Nighttime Economy Advisor and Parklife co-founder Sacha Lord, who pushed the idea forward after the final closure of the iconic Sankeys venue in Manchester. The club has had changes in venue over the years, but has now found a pretty permanent home at Depot Mayfield, alongside street food and events venue Escape to Freight Island. WHP is known for keeping Manchester’s music heritage alive, with world-renowned DJs and musicians performing, becoming one of the hottest tickets in town when the season is underway.
Warehouse Project is also embarking on its first weekend festival in Rotterdam this May Day bank holiday weekend, which seems to be the first of many ventures outside of the UK.
The findings also revealed that Ibiza and the UK are home to the world’s favourite clubs. Three Ibiza venues (Ushuaïa, Pacha and Amnesia) feature in the top ten alongside three of the UK’s clubs (Warehouse Project, Printworks and Fabric).
Elrow, Barcelona is Instagram’s most-followed nightclub with just shy of a million followers (949,000), with Ushuaïa being TikTok’s most loved nightclub, with an incredible 101.8 million views on the platform. Madison Square Garden is officially the world’s most-loved music venue, with 650 million TikTok views and 461,000 followers on Instagram, earning a total venue score of 8.38/10.
