In dire need of that sweet, sugary fix? Turn any corner in Manchester, and you’ll stumble upon somewhere that’s sure to ignite those cravings. From piled-high pancakes to gooey, melty cookie dough – here are the best places to chow down on delicious desserts in Manchester.
1. My Cookie Dough
What’s on offer? π° Seriously gooey hot cookie dough, with tons of topping options, including Nutella, Biscoff, Red Velvet, Kinder and even Strawberry Cheesecake. Drool! These bad boys are incredibly indulgent, and the kind of treats that coat your mouth with melted chocolate galore. A very naughty favourite in the Secret Manchester office.
Where is it? π The Orient, The Trafford Centre, Manchester, M17 8EH.
2. Slattery
What’s on offer? π° A wonderfully chocolatey afternoon tea, cakes, waffles, ice cream and their super-sweet Chocolate Challenge (which is far more difficult than it looks!). The chocolate challenge certainly looks easier than it is, with ice cream, melted chocolate cups, cream galore and a huge slab of cake to get through.
If you don’t fancy busting at the seams, however, there is plenty of normal-sized cakes and treats on offer. Since they are famed for their chocolate, however, we’d recommend giving those a try.
Where is it? π 197 Bury New Rd, Whitefield, M45 6GE.
3. Fress
What’s on offer? π° Pancakes, brownies, a selection of freshly made (huge!) cakes, and even a mega afternoon tea. Whatever you choose, everything at Fress is seriously indulgent.
Their pancakes in particular are particularly show-stopping, but if you pop in for (savoury) brunch, we’d recommend sneaking a little takeaway cake home with you. When in Fress!
Where is it? π 62 Oldham Street, M4 1LE.
4. The Ivy
What’s on offer? π° While, of course, The Ivy doesn’t specialise in desserts specifically, it’s worth the mention for one dessert, and one dessert alone. The chocolate bombe.
There’s a range of luxury desserts to choose from at the Brasserie, including tiramisu, crΓ¨me brΓ»leΓ© and rum baba, but the star of the show is undeniably the chocolate bombe – a melting chocolate dessert with ice cream, a honeycomb centre, and hot salted caramel sauce. I’m drooling just at the thought. It sometimes gets a shake-up for special occasions such as Valentine’s Day and Wimbledon, but it’s been a staple on their menu for years now, and one I look forward to every time I visit.
Where is it? π The Pavilion, Byrom St, M3 3HG.
5. Black Milk
What’s on offer? π° Giant waffle stacks, milkshakes, huge cookies and pancakes – with a number of desserts and products available to purchase at their Manchester cafe, too, including their very own Kinderella sauce. Black Milk aptly describes itself as the “King of Desserts” in Manchester, and with pancake stacks as incredible as theirs, we kind of have to agree. Their freakshakes are pretty impressive, too! If you’re looking for the ultimate ‘Instagrammable’ dessert, this is the place.
Where is it? π 88 Oldham St, M4 1LF.
6. The Midnight Delivery
What’s on offer? π° The Midnight Delivery specialises in hot cookie dough with tons of toppings, but what we love the most about this place is the fact that you don’t need to leave the house to enjoy their treats. Delivering across Salford and Manchester, the menu is filled with indulgent goodies including brownies, cookie dough with popular chocolate toppings, large filled cookies, cheesecakes and other bakes.
Where is it? π The Midnight Delivery provides desserts via home delivery, so be sure to check out their app to order.
7. Ginger’s Comfort Emporium
What’s on offer? π° Nestled inside Affleck’s Palace in the Northern Quarter, Ginger’s Comfort Emporium specialises in real dairy ice cream – and has tons of experimental flavours on offer (even a Vegemite one!). Their ice creams are incredibly creamy and full of flavour, and while the treat is usually preferred on a hot day, they’ve created some warming and homely flavours to enjoy all year round, a solid favourite being the Guinness and Gingerbread.
Where is it? π Afflecks, Church St, Manchester, M4 1PW.
8. Heavenly Desserts
What’s on offer? π° Heavenly Desserts has become popular nationwide, with not just a venue in Manchester but also branches in Birmingham, London and Glasgow, to name a few. Specialising in luxury-feeling sweet treats, guests can pretty much guarantee they’ll find something they’re craving here – thanks to the huge menu boasting sweet bao buns, waffles, doughnuts and even croissant-waffle hybrids.
There’s even homely classics such as sticky toffee pudding and an apple crumble tart, so not just the trendy, chocolate-doused desserts on offer.
Where is it? π 25 Wilmslow Rd, Rusholme, Manchester M14 5TB.
