Sunflower season is here, with floral lovers flocking to their local farms for a touch of extra happiness. Luckily for us, there’s a special place near Manchester that plays host to a beautiful sunflower field every year, perfect for a family day out, and the Hayloft sunflower field is open now, ready to brighten up everyone’s day – as well as their home later.
The Hayloft is a local family-run farm, coffee shop and ice cream shop, located between Warrington and Widnes, just a 35 minute drive from Manchester. On top of hosting a sunflower field during the summer, the spot also has a charming pumpkin patch during autumn, as well as pick your own Christmas trees and even runs a Christmas Panto Santa experience.

Open between 10am and 4:30pm, The Hayloft also boasts a free play barn, facepainting and maze as well as the usual tractors, play area and animals such as cows and goats.
The entry to The Hayloft sunflower field is £5 including two stems, while the pick-your-own sunflowers are £1 each with free entry. Plus, you can bring your furry friends with you as dogs on leads are welcome, and there’s even a miniature train to cart you around! The experience is open now until the flowers stop blooming sometime in August.

The coffee shop operates during the same hours, offering a breakfast and lunch menu on top of the usual baked goods and ice cream. Guests can indulge in a Full English Breakfast for under £9, or go for Eggs Benedict for a similar price. For lunch, visitors can enjoy a crusty white baguette with a wide range of fillings, a generous selection of sandwiches and wraps, and the usual favourites such as jacket potatoes and toasties.
What is more, guests can also enjoy the age-old English tradition that is afternoon tea for £22, including a variety of sandwiches, homemade scones with jam and clotted cream and a selection of cakes with tea or coffee.
