Summer means many things, but a large part of it is the beautiful lavender that grows all over the country, including our wonderful region of Greater Manchester. Not only is the rich blue/purple of lavender a gorgeous sight, but it fills the warm air with the most soothing scent, sought-after the world over for the likes of bath salts and beauty products. One spot not too far from Greater Manchester where you can absolutely make the most of incredible British lavender is Inglenook Farm, which boasts a completely free-to-enter, aromatic lavender field.
Just 40 minutes from Manchester between Wigan and St Helens, Inglenook Farm is home to a family-run lavender field located in the beautiful countryside of Rainford. At Inglenook Farm, the team is passionate about lavender and its many benefits, and they believe in providing a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere for visitors to enjoy – much helped by the gentle aroma of the lavender itself.

Drop by, have a frolic through the lavender and feel refreshed and relaxed whilst visiting the onsite Cherry Orchard Tearoom and several unique shops, perfect for all the family (including the dog). You can also see the entire process of turning lavender into essential oils and other products in the Inglenook Farm courtyard where Casa-Ancora also boasts its upcycled furniture, and The Little Green Door Company crafts bespoke seasonal wreaths!
Much like lavender in the rest of the country, the Inglenook Farm lavender field is in bloom from late June through until the end of August, creating a picturesque landscape that draws visitors from near and far. As such, visitors are asked not to take any professional photography, but those who wish to use Inglenook Farm lavender field as a photoshoot backdrop can enquire for an official pass.

Inglenook Farm also now has a licence for weddings and civil ceremonies, so if you’re a nature-lover, or just keen on the scent, you can get married in this idyllic lavender field! There are also plenty of events like markets, classic car meets and wreath-making workshops, plus sunflower and other plant picking throughout the year, so keep an eye on the Inglenook Farm social media channels.
Inglenook Farm lavender field is open from 9.30am-4.30pm, and you can get in contact here if you have any queries.
Inglenook Farm is around a 40 minute drive from Manchester, or you can get the train from Manchester Victoria to Rainford in around an hour.
