Wine bar and coffee house Provence, with its no-nonsense approach to wine, offering the city’s first ‘wine-oke‘ experience (wine and karaoke), is making wine tasting accessible for both wine aficionados and novices alike, with a series of laid-back tastings led by wine sommelier Felicity Wattam, where “silly” questions are encouraged.
And the best part? All Provence wine tasting events offer guests five full glasses of wine– none of your tasting measures here! Plus added nibbles, such as a selection of bread, cheese, charcuterie meats, olives and vegetarian antipasti, included within the £45 ticket price.
The inaugural tasting event will take place on 27th April, with the theme ‘Around Europe‘ curated to showcase a variety of wines from Europe’s famed regions including Italy, Spain, Germany and France. Romanian wine is actually said be “one of this year’s biggest trending regions” according to Niall Davey, Wine Expert at Provence, and you can expect all kinds of insights like this at every tasting.
Opening in autumn last year, Provence generally serves small plates, alongside meat charcuterie boards carefully curated by local artisans Northern Cure as well as cheese and vegetarian seasonal sharing platters from Amato – perfectly accompanying the bar’s 80-strong wine menu. The terrace is a beautiful spot, especially when the weather behaves, and whether inside or out, Provence offers a relaxed drinking and grazing space in the heart of the city
Around Europe will introduce guests to five glasses of white, red and rosé wines by the glass, with following monthly tastings taking a similar format within their very own theme. The next event ‘Taste of Summer‘, which takes place in May, will focus on fresh, lively and lighter seasonal wines – perfect for summer sipping! This is followed by ‘South of France‘ in June, which will take guests on a journey through the French vineyards, with more details to be announced.
