Since music is one of our favourite things here in Manchester, musicians can find it challenging to host truly intimate shows these days, especially those with a huge following. After the announcement that Manchester icons Blossoms will be performing to 250 people, 2010s stalwarts Bloc Party are now getting in on the action, playing a tiny venue in Bury, of all places.
To celebrate the brand new album ‘Anatomy Of A Brief Romance’, beloved record store and cafe Wax and Beans will be hosting the mighty Bloc Party for a very special live show at The Met in Bury on Wednesday 9th September – and you can bet it’s going to be a hell of a night.
The 400 standing-capacity venue is used to hosting all sorts of arts, theatre and community events and performers, but perhaps none as well-known as Bloc Party. Established for well over 15 years now, the band have cemented themselves as a modern indie-electronic powerhouse.
Their debut album, ‘Silent Alarm’, contains some of the most memorable tunes of their career including Helicopter and Banquet, and is heralded as one of the greatest of the noughties.
They last played a very special gig in Manchester during BBC Radio 6 Music festival back in March, packing out our beloved Band on the Wall. Expect that same energy, with absolute tunes – some very very new, but likely some very old too – and plenty of dancing.
