Steak is having a moment in Manchester with bottomless offering and the arrival of affordable steak spot Flat Iron, however there’s another restaurant for meat fiends heading Manchester’s way – and they’re offering 50% off. The renowned London chophouse Blacklock is set to open a new Manchester venue in a Grade II listed building on Peter Street this autumn, marking their sixth restaurant and first outside of the capital.
Loved for their modern take on the Great British chophouse, guests can expect a range of chops and steaks cooked over charcoal and all washed down with cocktails that follow a pip to peel philosophy and wines on tap. Famously their signature pudding, white chocolate cheesecake, is served tableside and straight from the dish, with a loving ‘say when’ approach.
Founded by ex-lawyer Gordon Ker whose love of hospitality led him to open the first Blacklock in a basement in Soho in 2015, he commented: “It’s long been a dream of mine and the team to open Blacklock in Manchester given its vibrant and bustling culture and brilliant food scene. It’s so important for us to be in buildings with character and history, and this part of Manchester has that in spades.”
Blacklock serves sustainably sourced meat from award-winning Cornish family farmers and butchers Philip and Ian Warren. This almost decade long relationship with sustainable, regenerative farming and no waste approach to every part of the business helped earn them B Corp certification in 2023.
Blacklock will be collaborating with new Northern suppliers to champion the best local produce, which will play starring roles in brand new dishes to be introduced to the Manchester menu. One of the stars of the restaurant’s menu is their ‘All In’, which consists of a big pile of chops on top of flatbread and there to soak up all those glorious, meaty juices.
Plus, they will, of course, be bringing their award-winning Sunday Roast. Expect whole joints roasted over open coals served with Yorkshire puddings, duck fat roasted potatoes, seasonal vegetables and an unsparing amount of Blacklock gravy.
The restaurant will be housed in a Grade ll listed building, formerly home to a textile merchant and rich with Mancunian history, making it a fitting choice for Blacklock’s much anticipated Northern opening. Commenting on the restaurant search, Ker said: “I absolutely love the architecture in Manchester; the tiled basements, lightwells and stone frontages feel very us. And when a landlord asked what we thought of a basement hiding in plain sight beneath the bustle of Peter Street, I knew we’d found our perfect Manchester home.”
Blacklock will open their highly-anticipated Manchester chophouse on Friday 27th September following their sought after 50% off soft launch (running from 20th September). Blacklock is offering guests the opportunity to get 50% off during their Soft Launch by signing up here to be amongst the first to book.
