This June sees the celebration of Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, commemorating Prophet Abraham and Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to Allah with gifts and feasting. To celebrate the key event in the Islamic calendar, Indian and Pakistani restaurant Zouk in Manchester is set to host a four-course set menu especially for Eid al-Adha, featuring a special roast platter.
Every family has their own traditions at Eid and Zouk understands that while some guests love to tuck into their favourite curry and others like to indulge in a traditional raan roast. This year for Eid al-Adha at Zouk, the chefs are offering both on the set menu to celebrate, which will be served at the table (as opposed to buffet-style) on June 28 and 29, costing £35 per person.
To begin, Zouk will be serving up popadoms and pickles as appetisers followed by starters of samosa chaat (traditional Pakistani chaat with a delicious fresh samosa, tamarind sauce and raita), chicken 65 (chicken pieces marinated in ginger, garlic, chilli and curry leaves and then fried in a delicious spicy batter) and seekh kebab (juicy minced lamb kebabs with fresh ginger, spices and chilli).
The set menu will then be followed by an Indian-style Sunday roast feast, which consists of Zouk’s roast sharing platters include two roasted meats (slow-roasted lamb Henry in a raan marinade and whole roast chicken raan). Add in spicy gravy and all the classic trimmings like big Yorkshire puds, golden roasted Potatoes, and seasonal vegetables and it is well and truly a feast for the eyes and stomach. As for dessert, chocolate lovers can dive into a chocolate brownie or traditionalists can enjoy Gulab Jamun soaked in syrup.
For large groups the restaurant also offers a whole stuffed roast lamb which serves 12 to 15 people and can be pre-ordered to eat in the restaurant or take away for celebrations at home. The whole lamb is stuffed with rice and 48 hours notice is required to pre-order this. To keep things authentic this includes; tasty vegetable pilau, heaps of golden roasted potatoes, delicious sautéed veg and a flavoursome spicy gravy.
The price, which is based on the weight of the lamb is roughly £350 or £25 per person and includes all the accompaniments and trimmings. For smaller groups legs of lamb raan serving 4-6 people or whole roast chickens serving 1-2 people are also available. Pre-order or 24 hours is required for these smaller special roasts.
The restaurant has recently had its summer décor installed with a vibrant tropical theme and lots of decorations for all ages to enjoy including flamingos, parrots and a super spot for family pictures.
