… And by ‘get merry’, we mean tipsy on this season’s hottest drink: mulled wine. An absolute staple at Christmastime, the season isn’t done right without at least one taste of the warming brew, and luckily for us, there are plenty of places to get your hands on a mulled wine this winter in Manchester.
1. Manchester Christmas Markets
Probably the most festive thing to do in Manchester, the Christmas Markets are among the best in Europe – providing hundreds upon hundreds of Bavarian stalls to potter around. In addition to all the quirky, Christmassy gifts, guests can also enjoy festive tipples, too, including mulled wine, boozy hot chocolates and so much more in those signature festive mugs.
2. Bar Hutte
Popping up again this year, Bar Hutte is back with a ton of wintery huttes at the Great Northern Warehouse and for its first year at Kampus. There, guests can enjoy mulled wines, boozy hot chocolates, beers and more, before taking to their own hutte for a bit of Christmas karaoke, or hiding in the bar and enjoying the festive atmosphere. 3. Miracle on Cross Street
Back in Manchester for 2022, Miracle on Cross Street is bringing all things Christmas to the city – from its magical décor to the festive drinks that grace its menu. Think mulled wine, Christmas-themed cocktails and more, all within the grotto-like basement bar that makes for the perfect escape from Manchester Christmas Markets. 4. The Oast House
It wouldn’t be winter without The Oast House‘s curious teepee, now, would it? Back for 2023, The Oast House is serving festive vibes by the bucketload this year – alongside a menu of warming drinks including mulled wine and winter cocktails. Pop in next time they have a band on and enjoy the season’s hottest drink. The Oast House, The Avenue Courtyard, M3 3AY.
5. Provence
This popular Manchester wine bar has taken things up a notch and they might be onto something with the launch of spiced mulled orange wine. Provence in Spinningfields has revealed the renewal of its one-of-a-kind festive tipple, spiced mulled orange wine, guaranteed to be the hottest trend (and drink on the menu) this winter. The summer go to, has been re-imagined and is now served piping hot, with an infusion of classic festive flavours – star anise, clove, cinnamon and orange zest. You can also get your hands on a glass of the traditional recipe if you’re a mulled wine purist. Provence, 3 Hardman Street, Spinningfields, M3 3HF.
6. The Black Friar
The garden at The Black Friar has become the home of the Winter Tavern once more – a must-visit destination for the festive season. The Salford public house and restaurant has transformed their garden bar into a wondrous medieval Winter Tavern where guests can escape the chill with fires, frolics and feasting.
