Stockport has consistently been praised for the quality of life it gives residents, with a thriving high street, highly-rated restaurants and bars, and beautiful architecture in the old market hall and stunning church that has stood the test of time. Now, Stockport has gained yet another exciting watering hole in the form of Stanley’s, a cosy, vintage bar located in the gorgeous up-and-coming area of Underbank.
Stanley’s is set to serve up a vast range of draught beers, bottled beers, spirits, and cocktails, with sustenance in the form of pizzas, fries, chicken wings and bar snacks to soak up all that goodness.
Inside you’ll find Victorian-inspired interiors, think dark wood panelling, plush velour and leather soft furnishings and vintage style animal-focused portraits hanging on the walls. There is also a vintage upright piano leaning against one of the walls, inviting those with the God-given talent to entertain the masses – and most likely, those with no talent at all (at least after a few drinks).
The Landlord’s Living Room is located upstairs, giving a more private feel to the place, bringing the cosiness up another notch. The entire place is perfect for the Christmas season, and Stanley’s promises “a mulled wine on the couch” this season, if you’re walking by on a chilly Stockport day.
Subway tiles and an intimate layout finish off the space in a way that feels as though it has been there forever, and Stanley’s fits into this cobbled Stockport street as if it was always meant to be there. But there’s more…
A wall of mirrors lead you towards the toilet, however, as you head in and you’ll see that straight through there is a small cave at the back. In the past, the cave, which dates back over 100 years, may have been a cold store for butchers but now offers a unique charm to the Stockport bar.
Stanley’s is open for business Wednesday to Sunday, and is located on Little Underbank, Stockport.
