Manchester is brimming with top notch burger spots but one that springs to mind for many is Almost Famous. However, the burger-flipping pros are set to launch a brand new concept, known as Super Awesome Deluxe, and it’s all about the smash burger. And let’s just say they are indeed super awesome.
Set to open on October 9 at the former Lono Cove on Manchester’s Thomas Street in the Northern Quarter, Super Awesome Deluxe will be the first ‘takeout’ smashed burger joint in this part of the city. Burger fans can expect a “slick, big counter service with a tight menu of three core burgers done well”. No reservations, no bookings, no chicken, just great quality smashed beef.
You can expect rich and tender smashed beef, gooey and melty cheese, buns as soft as clouds, golden hand-cut fries, and homemade house sauce. The meat for the smash burgers is sourced super locally from W.H Frost with a house blend of chuck, brisket, and aged marrow for a rich buttery flavour, ground for a steak-like texture and smashed hot to create a super caramelised, super juicy burger to drool over.
Burgers will be limited daily, until sold out, and there are just three smashingly-good burgers to choose from – the Super, the Awesome and the Deluxe – meaning it’s all about quality over quantity here. The Super features deluxe sauce and pickles, the Awesome includes shaved onion, deluxe sauce, ketchup, mustard and pickles, and the Deluxe boasts deluxe sauce, spicy ketchup, lettuce, tomato and pickles.
But it’s not just the smash burgers at Super Awesome Deluxe that are taken very seriously, as the fries are too. The new burger joint has adopted a multi-part process to create fries that taste like fries, with hundreds of spuds from Cheshire chipped and cooked fresh everyday, never frozen and splintered to give you crispy, salty, golden lil crunchy chippies of potato wonder.
And you can wash their smash burgers and fries down with a housemade cherry lemo or The Super Awesome Deluxe lager in collaboration with Tiny Rebel, all available for takeout. Better still, whilst you wait for your order you can listen to 80s tunes in the day and drum and bass beats by night, with the burger spot open as late as 2am on weekends for that post-party scran.
Beau Myers, co-founder at Super Awesome Deluxe said: “Why is super awesome so super awesome? We’re doing more than just smashing burgers – we’re creating a whole vibe. We’ve created something completely fresh that hits in a new way and gives people what they need. It’s all about quality, energy, and keeping it real.
“Our menu is tight, the flavours are bold, and the beats are loud. We want people to walk out with a grin on their face, knowing they’ve just had the best damn burger ever. This isn’t just about food, it’s about the culture we’re building around it and the good times we’re bringing.”
On Wednesday 9th October, Super Awesome Deluxe will be giving away 200 free burgers – 100 free burgers from 12 o’clock until sell out, and an additional 100 free burgers from 5pm until sell out. Super Awesome Deluxe is open for takeaway from 12-3pm and again 5-10pm Wednesday – Sunday. Late night until 2am on Friday and Saturday.
