Manchester has played a convincing double for Birmingham in the world of Peaky Blinders, with the Norther Quarter’s streets like Dale Street and Mangle Street, Castlefield, and even Victoria Baths helping bring the show’s industrial setting to life. Now, The Peaky Blinders world is coming back to town, but this time, the story unfolds through music as Candlelight: Peaky Blinders arrives at Hallé St Peter’s.
It’s the newest chapter in Candlelight’s growing line-up of tributes, following The Lord of the Rings, Outlander and Disney Love Songs. This one, though, swaps the romance and the fantasy for something altogether darker.
Hallé St Peter's
If you’ve somehow missed it, Peaky Blinders is Steven Knight’s BBC drama, which ran for six immensely popular series between 2013 and 2022. It follows Tommy Shelby and his family through 1920s Birmingham, just after the First World War, and the story returned to the big screen in 2026 with the film The Immortal Man.
As important as Manchester’s streets were in creating the show’s gritty atmosphere, the soundtrack, known for pairing its period setting with modern rock, played an equally vital role in shaping its brooding mood. From the opening notes of Red Right Hand to the unmistakable guitar riff of Arctic Monkeys’ Do I Wanna Know?, the music became inseparable from the world of the Shelbys. Now, fans can hear the iconic soundtrack in a new light in the heart of Ancoats.
