You’ll likely recognise the Art Deco concrete and neon signage of Sachas Hotel in Manchester city centre, just off Market Street as you go into the Northern Quarter. Quite the stories have spread in the past about this controversial building, and, in fact, Sachas is ranked 125th of 126 Manchester hotels, according to TripAdvisor, so you can imagine our surprise when we saw you can actually have your wedding there.

It’s no surprise, however, that you can rent Sachas for your wedding for under £1,000, given its reputation. Reviewers have described it as “horrible“, “absolutely awful“, and even “hell“, with frequent complaints about rooms that are boiling hot, and there’s even worse recollections that we just don’t want to get into.
When you look at Sachas in Manchester on paper, it’s got a lot going for it. The Art Deco interior is complete with a huge chandelier, which you can see sparkling from outside, it’s in a prime location right on the edge of the Northern Quarter and Market Street, and it’s one of the city’s most affordable hotel options – OK, it’s not quite Hotel Gotham or The Alan, but you’ve got to work with what you’ve got.
Sachas is part of the Britannia chain of hotels, which owns the likes of the Airport Inn and boasts the huge palazzo-style Britannia Hotel across from Piccadilly Gardens, and, let’s face it, we’re always looking for luxury vibes on a budget.
Betrothed couples can look forward to a full do at Sachas Manchester, complete with a three-course dinner for your wedding guests, a Bucks Fizz reception, and an evening buffet – for less than a grand. The infamous hotel’s silver package comes in at £999 and also includes things like your table linens, cake stand and cutting knife, a private lounge bar for cocktail hour, and a red carpet welcome.
If you’re looking for something a tad more upmarket for your central Manchester wedding, Sachas’ £1,499 Gold Package also gets you a stay in the ‘gorgeous bridal suite’, a full English the next morning, extra space for guests, tea, coffee, a stage, and a complimentary balloon arrangement. Because what newlywed couple would turn down a balloon arrangement?
Couples can really push the boat out with the fanciest wedding option at Sachas, the £2,500 Platinum Package. Now you’re in the Lincoln and Madison reception suite, with an extra function bar, a changing room, chair covers (sashes are an extra 50p per chair – be warned), a bottle of prosecco for the happy couple, and the hire of the ceremony space.
The standard wedding space can accommodate 50 to 250 guests, but you can spill out into an extra room and fit up to 550 guests in. Basically, all your wedding bases are covered when hosting at Sachas, and you likely can’t get any more affordable in Manchester city centre.
So, if Sachas has always intrigued you, and you’re on the lookout for a wedding venue in Manchester, don’t rule out this strange yet iconic venue.
