Oysters and Champagne are quite the classy pair but they shouldn’t just be limited to high society or those with plenty of pounds in their purse. Luckily for Mancs and visitors to the city, you can indulge in these without breaking the bank as one sleek Manchester hotel, The Alan, has a very happy hour.
Recently launching an oyster and champagne happy hour, The Alan on Princess Street is offering Cumbrae oysters for £1 per shuck and Telmont Champagne for £10 per glass- and you needn’t have to be a guest at the hotel to take advantage of this offer. Available at The Alan’s restaurant from 3.30pm to 6.30pm every day (yes, every day), the oysters come with a range of toppings such as tabasco sauce, freshly squeezed lemon juice and the classic Mignonette, which is a dressing made with shallots and red wine vinegar.
Taking residence within an impressive Grade II listed building, the industrial-chic interiors of The Alan pay homage to the building’s rich heritage and have been carefully curated to uncover the hidden beauty of the building’s past. The hotel designers have removed the original plasterboard which made the whole building disproportional, as well as the lowered ceilings and cluttered furniture. Think exposed brickwork, original windows and the true tall dimensions of the rooms.
There’s nothing like collapsing on a comfy bed after our fair share of champagne and oysters or a delicious meal, and you can do exactly that at The Alan. Retreat to one of 137 spacious, industrial-style rooms at The Alan complete with Smart TVs with Google Chromecast, Google Nest smart concierge, specially selected teas, complimentary sustainable mineral water, Aesthetica magazines, super fast Wi-Fi, Bluetooth speaker, plus rainfall showers with 100% organic Haeckel’s natural skin care products.
At the ground floor restaurant and bar, the menus have been created with the aim of championing local makers and feature indulgent seasonal dishes using the best of British ingredients. The menus at The Alan consistently rotate for an ever-changing offering so you whether you’re after a selection of small yet sumptuous plates or a banging breakfast, there are plenty of exciting dishes to choose from.
Diners are welcome from morning right through to the small hours (with a DJ in the lobby to soundtrack your evening), whether it’s breakfast or coffee, a light lunch, dinner with a view of the open kitchen or wine and cocktails in the bar. Plus, if you’re in search of a co-working space in Manchester, The Alan also has you covered.
