As a child, the thought of tumbling down an unsuspecting rabbit hole and falling into a world full of suspicious mind-altering vials and mysterious tea parties with no way of getting home used to scare the shit out of me. Now, it’s simply called ‘Friday night’. Bringing that ‘rabbit hole’ feeling to Manchester every single day with their curious Wonderland-themed venue – Richmond Tea Rooms provides a place where guests can escape from the world while indulging in delicious afternoon teas and cocktails.
Serving up breakfast, afternoon tea, sandwiches, cakes and cocktails, the city centre retreat is the perfect spot for an important date with mates (or just a naughty cheat day!), with all the delectable trimmings on offer including scones, scotch eggs, homemade cakes and finger sandwiches, alongside glasses of fizz and cups of tea to help it all go down without a hitch.
For those seeking a proper sugar rush, you’re in luck, too, thanks to a menu of cakes packed full of treats such as Victoria sponge cake, Boston creme cakes, chocolate fudge cake, carrot cake and more. Alice could never.
But by nightfall, my friends, is where things get curiouser and curiouser. Hosting an array of events every single month, Richmond Tea Rooms turns up the debauchery for their Mad Hatter’s Tea Party – dialling up their delightful afternoon tea experience with booze, drag queens, live entertainment and, of course, the Mad Hatter himself, alongside friends such as Alice, the white rabbit, and other bonkers characters.
The long-running event is accompanied by an even naughtier ‘high tease’ burlesque event, too, which sees a side of cabaret and flirtatious routines served alongside cocktails and sweet treats. It’s enough for even the Queen to lose her head over – in a good way, of course.
Seats at their imaginative events are available to book now, and you can find out more here.
