Calling all chocoholics and turophiles (yes, there’s a name for cheese lovers) as you’re in for a treat! A popular festival dedicated to all things chocolate and cheese is returning to the quaint Greater Manchester town of Ramsbottom this weekend.
Taking place in the charming town north of Bury, visitors will be able to peruse a number of stalls brimming with the dairy delights. The festival will also include live music, demonstrations, a creative space for children as well as tasters of the delicious chocolate and cheese brought in by local businesses.
The Ramsbottom Chocolate and Cheese Festival will take place on Sunday 24th March from 12pm until 4pm, with tickets priced at £1 for adults. There will be activities happening in Ramsbottom Civic Hall, around ‘The Urn’ sculpture on the town square and around St Paul’s Church on the main road running through Ramsbottom.
Last year was the first time the annual chocolate and cheese festival made a return to Ramsbottom since the Covid-19 pandemic and after much success it is back again for 2024. Home to chocolate shop, Cocoa Tree, and previously the site of The Chocolate Cafe, the town has been a popular destination for chocolate lovers since the shop and festival were established.
As well as being able to browse chocolate and cheese stalls, local businesses will also be open for visitors to enjoy at their leisure. Plus, according to local councillor Gareth Staples-Jones, helping to organise the event, attendees will also have the chance to find a golden ticket too.
Ramsbottom is also home to the famous World Black Pudding Throwing Championships, where locals and visitors from far and wide try their luck at throwing black puddings with the aim of landing in a large Yorkshire pudding.
