Back in April, the renowned Chocolate Cafe in Ramsbottom sadly closed its doors which come as a shock to both residents and visitors with it having been the epicentre of the town home to the annual chocolate festival for 15 years. However, a new chocolate shop called Cocoa Tree is set to open at the Ramsbottom site this July, here to keep the popular sweet treat in the Greater Manchester market town.
Expected to open on Bolton Street on July 21, Cocoa Tree will be bringing beautifully decorated artisan chocolates back to the people of Ramsbottom. The small, independent chocolate shop is family-run and all four generations help with the confectionary business, and will be dog-friendly downstairs.
Owned by Victoria Walker and her partner Christopher, she already has an existing Cocoa Tree shop in the south Manchester area of Chorlton, but will now be taking her expertise north of the city. The chocolate shop has a passion for everything homemade and the owner believes “chocolate belongs in Ramsbottom” therefore is continuing the sweet trade in the town.
Announcing the opening news on social media, Cocoa Tree said: “Introducing Ramsbottom’s newest sweet haven, the Cocoa Tree Chocolatiers! We are thrilled to announce that after weeks of hard work and pouring our heart and soul into creating a chocolate paradise, we are ready to open our doors on Friday at 10am!”
Cocoa Tree continued: “Prepare to be enchanted by the irresistible aroma of freshly made chocolates, meticulously crafted with the finest ingredients sourced globally. From silky truffles to delicate bonbons, our chocolatiers have created a delectable range that will satisfy all your sweet desires.
“Join us as we embark on this delicious journey, where chocolate dreams come true. We can’t wait to welcome Ramsbottom and indulge your senses in an unforgettable chocolate experience. See you on Friday at 10am!”
Cocoa Tree will be supplying a number of selection boxes, chocolate shards, buttons, bars and personalised chocolate gifts at their new Ramsbottom shop. Their signature collection box features chocolate bonbons in flavours such as almond and pistachio marzipan; passionfruit and coconut; lemon meringue; morello cherry liqueur; and salted caramel.
As well as chocolate, Cocoa Tree also sells baked goods including chunky cornflake brownies, chocolate fondue, coffees, pastries and more at their Chorlton location. Here’s hoping these will all be on the menu at their Ramsbottom branch.
The Chocolate Cafe closed in April with owner Philip Hargreaves referring to the cost of living crisis “hitting us at both ends” as the main reason for its closure. The Chocolate Cafe not only provided chocolate to enjoy at home but upstairs in their dining area visitors could tuck into savoury brunch dishes, pancakes, waffles, bakes and a tasting board showcasing their range of chocolate in multiple dessert forms.
Cocoa Tree is coming to 2 Bolton St, Ramsbottom, Bury, BL0 9HX in July.
