We love a good shindig round here, just look at our beloved Warehouse Project, and now Manchester’s newest esteemed open-air club, The Progress Centre, will host one of their biggest events to date. On Saturday 8 July, a day to night festival will be hosted by Berlin-based DJ duo, label owners and dedicated dance party starters The Ghost.
The Progress Centre relaunched last month, unveiling the freshly refurbished space and the festival kicks off their debut season of all-day parties which will run until September.
The set-up includes vintage clothing stalls courtesy of Gone Fishing Vintage and Me To A Tee, in addition to the floating record shop, Rub a Ducky Records, distributing vinyl records. A committed crate digger, founder Myles who has made it his mission to collect and supply electronic music gems via the waterways, will post up on land for the day as The Progress Centre support him getting back to business after his boat sadly sunk in April.
Haunted Dancehall will also be on hand with more dancefloor bangers on sale, including a mix of old, new and reissued records. Plus local legends 20k and Dead Sheep will be selling their range of rare and specialist zines, books and more. Street food vendors will be on site, providing fuel for the day to keep energy levels maximised, and peaking the interest of Manc foodies.
There will be live art on the day, with canvases set-up for celebrated local artists, Caroline Dowsett, Madi Marcantonatos and Grace Biddle to mark their stamp, painting special The Ghost murals. Attendees are welcome to get involved and paint their own art on a dedicated canvas in-line with the theme.
The stellar music line-up has been exclusively curated by Berlin-based duo The Ghost, featuring some of the duo’s favourite underground selectors. Prepare for a nine-hour odyssey that weaves through a mash up of house, tech-house and techno, projected through the venue’s specialist Funktion-One sound-system.
The day party will see The Ghost bringing their ultra-refined collection, alongside Christian AB, Rinse FM residents Hamish and Toby, Berlin’s Huerta B2B with Ghost Recs alumni DJ Pipe taking to the booth.
The party will swiftly move on to sister venue The Loft at 11pm, running till the early hours. The Ghost will treat guests to a second extended set B2B with KRN, and be joined by Tho + Loren, Kyle Toole B2B Ethan, and Dig This.
Tickets for the day party at The Progress Centre are now on sale, starting at £15 – available here. Tickets for the afterparty at The Loft will go on sale soon – keep an eye on their social media for more information.
