Marking Manchester’s official start of Christmas, the UK’s first grilled cheese restaurant, Northern Soul, has announced the grand return of its beloved Crimbo Dinner grilled cheese. An it has not only putting it back on the menu at its Tib Street restaurant, but also three other Manchester locations including Escape to Freight Island’s magical Winter Island.
Stacked high with fillings such as turkey, cranberry, stuffing, gravy and delicious cheese, the cult favourite sandwich is joined by an array of other festive bites, including grilled cheese sandwiches stuffed with brie, roast ham, festive chutneys and more.
Notably absent from the Manchester Christmas Markets this year, the popular grilled cheese restaurant will once again be swapping their annual alpine hut for the twinkle of Escape to Freight Island this winter, with tons of activities and events taking place under one roof. Expect tons of festive grub, mulled wine, festive live music and more, as well as the addition of their brand new ice rink which sits high above the Ticket Hall.
On this year’s festive menu, you’ll find the likes of Christmas Beets (beetroot, goat’s cheese and walnuts), Pimped Up Ploughman’s (roast ham, chilli piccalilli, crunchy salt and vinegar crisps, and a giant Scotch egg) and Mac Attack (the ultimate grilled cheese with their signature mac ‘n’ cheese) as part of Northern Soul’s sandwich selection. Plus, you’ll also find Brie Wish You A Merry Christmas (oozy brie, smoked streaky bacon and cranberry sauce with clementine and festive spice), Hog Roast (pigs in blankets, sage and onion stuffing, gravy mayo and apple slaw) and Turkey ‘My Arse’ (Northern fried chicken, hoisin cranberry sauce, streaky bacon and slaw with roasted sesame dressing).
Northern Soul will also be serving up fried pickles, festive mac ‘n’ cheese dishes, fries, wings and their classic grilled cheese sandwiches. The Christmas menu at Northern Soul, including the Crimbo Dinner grilled cheese, is available to order today at their Tib Street restaurant, Winter Island, Manchester City FC and University of Manchester locations.
