What’s more comforting and satisfying than pasta? Possibly one of the best carbohydrates out there (go on, fight me) and there’s an Italian pop-up concept in Manchester, Nonna’s Pasta, that’s solely dedicated to the dish. After rolling into the city in October last year, bringing with it good, hearty bowls of freshly-made pasta, the boozy Italian restaurant and bar has announced its permanent fixture at Deansgate Square by introducing a new menu for the occasion.
Opening up as a pop-up at The Green Lab venue in Deansgate Square last autumn, Nonna’s Pasta offers an authentically entertaining dining experience with Nonna’s twist on old classics. Nonna’s Pasta, which has become famous for its legendary Nonna Hadid Rigatoni Alla Vodka, will launch a selection of new dishes from April 20.
Customers indulge in the likes of delicious Lobster Carbonara as well as a Chicken Ate a Pizza, AKA a Chicken Parm – Buttermilk Fried Chicken coated in Marinara, topped with melted Mozzarella and Pesto. Plus, there’s Papa’s Pasta, a slow braised Short Rib Ragu Pappardelle with Truffle and Mushroom which is also set to feature on the new menu alongside a Pesto Infused Burrata.
When it comes to pasta, Nonna knows best. The menu also features some sharing options including Lasagne Spirali, a perfectly-baked spiralled lasagne for two people as well as a Tear & Share Garlic Bread with melted Mozzarella.
For the main courses, the restaurant currently offers an exciting range of Nonna’s recipes including Cacio e Pepe Gnudi, a tasteful twist on the classic Italian sauce which is filled inside ravioli pasta. Nonna Hadid (Rigatoni all vodka- but Gigi has nothing on Nonna’s recipe) and Nonna Goes Large (a large meatball with tomato sauce and spaghetti) are just a few of the hearty dishes to choose from.
Not complete without an accompanying cocktail; the drinks menu doesn’t disappoint with a range of familiar favourites such as Negroni, Old-Fashioned, Bloody Mary and Nonna’s Italian Mule. In addition, this week will also see the launch of a new cocktail menu with £6 negronis all week as well as other cocktails including Tequila Sunset and a delicious peach based cocktail, Peach Please.
You’ll also find a range of wines, spirits, juices, smoothies, and hot drinks to sip on whilst Nonna cooks you up something beautiful to eat. Plus, you can finish your meal with a divine dessert with Italian classics such as Espresso Martini Tiramisu, Peanut Butter Chocolate Fondant, Peach Cobber Cheesecake and gelato on the menu. Nonna’s Pasta also offers a vegan menu which boasts dishes such as Vegan Pesto Infused Burrata, Pomodoro Pasta as well as a Creamy Pesto Linguine.
