Three restaurants in Manchester have been named among the very best places to eat and drink at in the country. A list of the Top 100 restaurants for 2024 was revealed by the prestigious National Restaurant Awards last night (June 10) with some of Manchester’s top dining spots making the cut.
Climbing up the list dominated by London restaurants this year was Manchester’s one and only Michelin star restaurant Mana in Ancoats. Coming in 14th place, up from 71 last year, the restaurant run by chef patron Simon Martin ranked the highest of all the Manchester venues in the list.
Not far behind Mana was Higher Ground, which only opened in February last year, and placed 16th on the prestigious list. Last year, the restaurant on New York Street came in 51st place but since then it has gone on to be added to the Michelin Guide and scoop up a number of culinary awards.
The only other Manchester restaurant who made the list was Ancoats favourite Erst, which came in 50th place. Since opening its doors in 2019, it has gained numerous awards and praise nationally and regionally including being named ‘Restaurant of the Year’ at the MFDF awards earlier this year.
The best restaurant in the country according to the National Restaurant Awards list is The Ledbury in London, topping the list for the first time in 12 years. The restaurant was closely by new entry Mountain in London and Lancashire’s acclaimed Moor Hall in Aughton, which holds two Michelin stars.
New Manchester restaurant, Skof, which is run by Tom Barnes and only opened at the end of last month was named ‘One to Watch’ at the awards ceremony too. A number of restaurants in the North West region also made the top 100 this year, including Parkers Arms, Newton-in-Bowland (51), three Michelin star restaurant L’Enclume, Cartmel (20), Forest Side, Grasmere (75), Northcote, Langho (74) and Manifest, Liverpool (84).
