From sausage dog pup-ups to cute corgi cafés, so called man’s best friend has taken over the city with adorable, pup-filled events but soon it’ll be the furry felines time to shine. Heading to Manchester this May is a huge cat extravaganza celebrating all things cats and it sounds like the purrfect day out.
The two-day event known as Manchester Cat Extravaganza, which sounds a bit like Crufts for cats, will see ‘the most beautiful cats in the world’ strut their stuff on an actual catwalk. Taking place at the Bowlers Exhibition Centre on May 13 & 14, the event comes from Loving Cats Worldwide (LCWW) which has seen huge success on TikTok over recent months, reaping millions of views on their videos filmed at the organiser’s events.
The Manchester Cat Extravaganza will feature an international cat competition, an adoption event, a Best in Show, and a full shopping village to browse. Attendees will also be able to meet with local rescues and charities to see about adopting their own furry friend, as well as hearing educational anecdotes about different cat breeds being judged in the shows.
A panel of international judges will stage, reward and present stunning felines at the family furr-iendly event with prizes, competing to be awarded the title of Best Kitten, Best Cat, Best Alter and Best Household Pet. Plus there will be plenty of opportunities for cat-lovers to get up close and meet the moggies taking part too.
Loving Cats Worldwide describe themselves as “a crazy bunch of cat-crazed individuals doing our part to increase the visibility of all cats”. The organisers will not only be heading to Manchester for a cat extravaganza but will also be hosting events in Carlisle, Doncaster, Liverpool, Glasgow, Birmingham and Leicester later this year, followed by events in London, Brighton and Stafford in 2024.
The Manchester Cat Extravaganza and Rescue Awareness Event will be at the Bowlers Exhibition Centre from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 May. Adult tickets are priced from £18 per day in addition to a booking fee, with free entry for children under five years old. There are also VIP weekend tickets at £50 each, which include a goody bag and an official Loving Cats Worldwide t-shirt.
