North West-born taco spot Madre opened its 90 seater restaurant and bar at Kampus earlier this year, celebrating Mexico’s cuisine and culture. As autumn approaches, the taco-slingers are getting into the Sunday swing – Mexican style. From October, Madre diners will be able to enjoy a huge feast for the table with a choice of meat, cooked in traditional Mexican style, accompanied by a whole host of trimmings – think Mexican Sunday roast.
Choose from a Whole Pollo Asado, Cochinita Pil Bil, Cauliflower Al Pastor, plus monthly specials, each accompanied by traditional Mexican sides including salsa, papas con crema (roast potatoes but better), Refried beans, Elote and grilled cabbage.
The full menu includes:
To start: Guacamole, Chips and Salsa
A choice of: Whole Pollo asado (Whole chicken cooked over an open grill), Cochinita Pil Bil (Pig Shoulder), Cauliflower Al Pastor (Spit Grilled Cauliflower)
For the table: Elote (Corn with chipotle mayo, lime & queso fresco), Papas Con Crema (Crispy fried potatoes, served with garlic crema), Escabeche (Pickled veg), Grilled Cabbage with Pistachio Pepian, Refried Beans, Feta, Limes, Onions, Jalapenos, Coriander And A Mix Of Salsas, Tortillas (Flour and Corn), Birria Jus.
The Madre Sunday Feast menu will be served weekly from October 1 and is available from 12pm-6pm. The menu is priced at £24pp which includes meat/cauliflower plus all the trimmings, and Madre’s everyday menu will also be available all day Sunday.
Known for its typically Mexican cocktails to accompany the incredible cuisine, alongside familiar margaritas, the drinks list is infused with flavours from every corner of Mexico, featuring fermented tomatillos, pumpkin seed horchata, guajillo chilli tequila, and avocado leaf – all of which will be available with the Sunday Feast.
