One of the things that some might say Manchester city centre has been lacking is a good ol’ carvery, however Mancs are in luck as a modern take on the Sunday tradition is on its way. Giving our Toby a run for his money, food, drink and entertainment hub Freight Island is launching ‘Seconds’ – a new carvery where guests can tuck into the ultimate Sunday roast with unlimited access to all the trimmings. That’s right, you can go back for seconds and fill your boots.
A first for Manchester city centre, guests can order with the chef directly as they carve the mighty mains including roast topside Highland beef, marmalade-glazed gammon joint, roast Cheshire turkey crown, and roast squash & wild mushroom Wellington. Following this, guests are free to help themselves with an unlimited access of all the trimmings including Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, buttery mash, greens, honey-glazed carrots, petit pois, and 48-hour gravy.
The carvery is hosted up on the terrace at Freight Island where guests have an amazing bird’s-eye view of the platform, however guests are free to sit anywhere they like at the venue. The carvery is offered in three sizes: £11 for kids (small plate) with a choice of one main, £18 for adults (regular plate) with a choice of two mains, and £21 for XXL (massive plate) with a choice of three mains.
Plus, for those who like to have cheese on anything, for an additional £4, guests will also have an unlimited access to the big pot of molten cheese, poured over and torched for extra melt. So for all you cauliflower cheese fans, or just pure cheese fans, you can douse your Sunday roast dinner plate with all that gooey cheesiness.
And Freight Island’s carvery gets even better as you can order further extra sides including a giant sharing honey-mustard pigs in blankets, and a sharing sage and onion stuffing dish, both for an additional £4 each.
The carvery is available at Freight Island every Sunday from 12pm until 8pm, and launches on Sunday 3rd September. Bookings and walk-ins available. You can reserve your arrival time here.
