Bury Council has revealed new CGI images offering a first look at Casewells, the food, drink and events venue coming soon to Bury Market. Casewells is part of Bury Council’s £33m revamp of the award-winning Bury Market off Angouleme Way in the town centre.
Casewells: a major new destination set to enhance Bury’s world‑famous market
Casewells, which is expected to open this autumn, will include 12 food and retail units, a central bar and a stage for performances and community events. The venue is set to become a major new destination, enhancing Bury’s world‑famous market and contributing to a stronger daytime and evening economy for the Greater Manchester town.

The name Casewells was chosen through public consultation, reflecting the heritage of Casewell’s, believed to be the shop which produced Bury’s first black pudding in 1810. Midlands Events Bury Ltd (MEB), operators of multi‑use food and event spaces, will take on a 15‑year lease of Casewells.
In addition to the hall, the market upgrade programme includes improving the public spaces around the venue and installing an over-sailing canopy to enhance the outdoor market.
Casewells “draws on Bury’s heritage while creating new opportunities for people to come together”
Councillor Charlotte Morris, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Growth at Bury Council, said: “Casewells reflects the approach we’re taking across the borough. We’re not simply delivering new buildings. We’re creating places that people use, enjoy and feel connected to.
“Bury is delivering regeneration at pace, but growth here builds on identity. The things that make our towns distinctive matter, and Casewells is a good example of that approach. It draws on Bury’s heritage while creating new opportunities for people to come together, support local businesses and spend time in the town centre.

“These images show a place where food, culture and community come together, and where investment is delivering something people will experience and use every day. We’re particularly keen to make sure local food businesses benefit from the opportunities Casewells brings – please do get in touch.”
Andrew Burnett, Director of Midlands Events who will be operating Casewells, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be bringing a vibrant new food and entertainment venue to Bury. The response from prospective food traders has been fantastic, giving us great confidence that the range and quality of food on offer when we open will be second to none.

“Combined with the exciting programme of live entertainment and events we have planned, we are confident Casewells will become a destination for people of all ages. We’d like to thank our colleagues at Bury Council for their support in helping bring this opportunity to life, and we look forward to becoming a valued part of Bury town centre and the wider community.”
