We don’t know about you, but we’re in need of a pamper sesh. Summer has got a little bit hectic (maybe it’s the heat) so luckily the arrival of brand-new, purpose-built gym and spa facilities at one of Manchester’s iconic hotels may just be the excuse we need to hit pause.
Bringing an “elevated fitness and wellbeing experience” to the city centre, King Street Townhouse has opened its new gym and spa in the upper King Street conservation area within the historic Grade-II listed Italian Renaissance building. Known for its infinity pool overlooking the city, the hotel has added even more touches to make us swoon.
Designed by EPR Architects, the luxury wellness experience comprises of a soothing palette of calming neutrals with contemporary, natural materials such as timber, marble, and stone to evoke a sense of deep relaxation and calm. Each area has been impeccably crafted with luxurious wellness in mind, including carefully considered lighting to create a nurturing environment and complement the aromatherapeutic qualities of the various treatments on offer.
The spa features the likes of an immune-boosting Himalayan salt cave, an “unrivalled” choice of spa treatments from holistic wellbeing brand ESPA, and a range of UK-exclusive facials from leading skincare and wellness brand, Perricone MD. There are four treatment rooms consisting of a thermal suite; eucalyptus steam room; ice fountain; heated loungers; relaxed dining in the calming spa lounge; and a full treatment menu, including bespoke treatments exclusive to King Street Townhouse.
As for the new state-of-the-art gym facility at King Street Townhouse, it boasts four specially designed workout zones – cardio, functional, strength and free weights – where guests will find an advanced selection of fitness equipment to suit all strengths and abilities. Whether you’re looking to do a simple 30-minute HIIT workout or a full day of uncompromising relaxation, the new gym and spa facilities at King Street Townhouse provide an experience to suit people of all lifestyles and wellness routines.
Plus, the relaxing spa lounge offers a balanced menu of both light and nutritious food and refreshments, as well as indulgent treats and beverages, with a range of vegetarian and vegan-friendly options. Choose from sweet and savoury breakfast options like huevos rancheros, homemade acai bowls, or fluffy Japanese pancakes.
Afternoon bites include a range of delicious hot and cold small plates from chicken gyoza and chilli & garlic king prawns to citrus marinated stone bass and yellowfin tuna in a yuzu dressing. For something sweet, the Cake & Bubbles menu is a unique take on the traditional ‘sweet course’, featuring an array of desserts, including berry roulade and double Belgian chocolate marquise that pair perfectly with a curated selection of teas, champagnes, and sparkling wine.
Spa facilities are open to both residents and guests from July 11. Gym facilities will be exclusively open for hotel residents for a limited time, with membership options launching later in 2022. For more information about the packages and bookings, visit the website here.
