Luxury Diggle ice cream parlour Grandpa Greene’s is a hit with those traveling (or living) outside the city centre all year round, but its Christmas offering is something completely unique… igloos. Yes, you needn’t have to head to the North Pole as Grandpa Greene’s is practically made for Christmas cosiness, and its outdoor private bubbles create the perfect vibes for sheltering from the cold.
With the Christmas menu, not just ice cream, available to order to the igloos you can indulge in the likes of Hungarian Beef Goulash and Roast Turkey, Gravy & Stuffing Ciabatta, and a festive afternoon tea, as well as warming drinks like the Lindt Lindor Hot Chocolate and classic Homemade Gluhwein.
Get stuck in to plenty of delicious Grandpa Greene’s Christmas creations, in the igloos or parlour itself, including pigs in blankets, festive loaded fries and so much more – proving it’s more than just a place to drop in for incredible ice cream (although, you can still get it all year round).
There’s also a very special Christmas Afternoon Tea on offer, which includes a range of open sandwiches served alongside plenty of luxury homemade festive sweet treats, unlimited Yorkshire tea or coffee, as well as homemade Gluhwein or one of Grandpa Greene’s famous luxury hot chocolates. This festive feast comes in at £22 per person, and you can make it sparkle with a glass of Prosecco for just £4.95. There are also children’s, vegetarian and halal versions available on request – just mention in it the notes when booking.
Reservations can be made for lunch, brunch or Afternoon Tea in the igloos here, and all igloos are shared with other guests unless you book for seven or more people (maximum 10 people, including children).
Keep up with the Grandpa Greene’s social media channels for updates on walk-in availability, as well as adverse weather conditions this winter that may alter opening days and times, given the location of the parlour is in Saddleworth and can often be the first and worst hit by snow.
Absolutely perfect for a cosy day looking out on the frosty countryside, Grandpa Greene’s also offers visitors a stroll along the canal or use the adjacent obstacle adventure course, ensuring the perfect day out for the whole family.
Grandpa Greene’s opening times:

Saturday & Sunday 9:30am until 5pm (food served until 4:30pm)
