A little something to sweeten up lockdown.
If you, like most of us, have been finding yourself frantically working your way through the food delivery apps in a bid to keep even a shred of our former lives, then you’ll be happy to hear that there’s a new kid on the block here to quench that sweet tooth.
Launching back in March, brand new NYC-inspired bakery Gooey firmly cemented itself as one of the city’s tastiest bakeries, which is even more impressive given how little time the team had before the pandemic hit the UK.
Usually calling the cosy spot between Wilson’s Social and The Corner Boy home, the pro bakers (led by former PBK and Takk chef Lewis Loughman) have begun whipping up their tasty creations again – this time available for boxed delivery. Covering areas within a 2.5-mile radius from Deansgate station, sweet-toothed fans can now enjoy a fresh array of donut and cookies, with all items made to order before being delivered on the very same day.
Choose from filled sugar donuts such as raspberry jam, vanilla custard, chocolate or lemon meringue, or drool over their super chunky cookies available in flavours such as double chocolate, or a choice of white, milk and dark chocolate.
All orders are made with contact-free delivery, and for those who live outside the catchment area, the bakery is planning to expand its availability nationwide really soon.
The bakery is just one of many Manchester businesses that have been forced to adapt amid the COVID-19 outbreak, with the likes of Rudy’s, Foundation Coffee House and Koffee Pot having to think of new ways to continue serving the people of the city.
