Manchester’s Instagram famous, queue-round-the-block, bakery and café Gooey is great at the best of times but this winter it’s bringing some festive sparkle in the form of a Christmas-themed cafe. Popping up in Selfridges in the Trafford Centre, the thirty-seater Gooey cafe launches on the back of the bakery’s success with their cafe located in the Northern Quarter.
The pop-up will be home to the brand’s insta-famous warm, gooey cookies and sugar coated stuffed brioche donuts, plus a selection of barista served coffees, soft drinks and boozy hot chocolates. Diners will also be able to enjoy a whole new selection of sweet treats exclusive to Selfridges including the Smore’s Cookie Pie, The Snowman Choux, Chocolate Orange Layered Cake and Gooey’s Christmas Millionaire Twist.
Shoppers can pop by and pick up a sweet treat, take home a box of goodies or enjoy a break from shopping in the café which will be open Monday to Sunday inline with Selfridges Christmas opening hours. Those looking for an extra sweet Christmas experience can join Gooey for Afternoon Tea with Santa every Thursday and Friday in December and Breakfast with Santa every Saturday and Sunday in December.
Announcing the news on Instagram, Gooey said: “Expect a Gooey counter with a Christmas twist and that Selfridges magic touch. Baked goods, coffee and boozy hot chocolates served 7 days a week, and weekly breakfast with Santa sessions & festive afternoon tea events throughout December. The perfect pit stop whilst on your festive shopping sprees.”
The Christmas Cafe by Gooey launches as part of Selfridges’ Christmas theme this year, Season’s Feastings, a celebration of the power of food to bring us together. Selfridges is offering customers serving suggestions for setting up, dressing up, gift giving and merrymaking, as we come together with friends and family to enjoy cherished Christmas rituals.
The Selfridges Christmas Cafe by Gooey will open in Selfridges Trafford to visit until January 4.
