Greater Manchester’s largest park is hosting a roarsome event this summer, which will see prehistoric creatures take over the green space. Following the success of last year’s event, Dinosaurs in the Park will be returning to Heaton Park featuring dozens of moving and roaring dinosaurs, making it the perfect activity for kids over the school holidays.
Dinosaurs may now be extinct but the fun at this park event is most definitely not, as it will be the closest Manchester gets to Jurassic Park. The North Manchester park is set to be transformed into a prehistoric landscape, complete with life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, interactive exhibits, and educational activities that promise to excite and inspire.
Visitors will encounter 40 realistic animatronic dinosaurs from the Jurassic, Triassic and Cretaceous periods at each twist and turn along the dinosaur trail. Witness dinosaurs like the mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex, the towering Brachiosaurus, and the fierce Velociraptor moving their heads, jaws, and claws and them hissing, snarling, and growling, for a truly immersive experience.
After the trail, you can make your way through the exciting and educational interactive zone featuring a palaeontologist tent so you can learn all about dinosaur behaviour, habitats, and the fascinating process of fossilisation. Plus, there’s a ‘Dinosaur Dentist’ section where children can have a go at brushing the teeth of a T-Rex and help with an extraction, as well as a ‘Dino Dig Pit’ where young explorers have the chance to unearth ancient fossils at an interactive dig site.
In addition, the immersive outdoor experience will also feature a ‘Fun Zone’ with lots of other free attractions and fun-filled fairground rides. And hungry explorers can head to the ‘Food Zone’ where you can either grab a bite to eat from the food court or enjoy a picnic after a hard day of digging.
Dinosaurs in the Park will run from July 19 to August 4 at Heaton Park, Manchester. Tickets cost £12 per person, under threes can enter for free, or you can get a group ticket for four for £46. Plus, there are also quiet sessions for noise sensitive visitors on August 1 from 3pm.
