What once was a dish that I’d only ever experienced through episodes of South Park growing up has fast become a cult favourite here in Manchester over recent years. And I, for one, am most certainly part of that cult.
Parking up at Pollen Yard in their own, bright yellow Transit van – which is now a fun, delicious-smelling taco truck – Crunched Tacos know a thing or two about Mexican street food… And we’d go as far as to say that they serve some of the best tacos in the whole big bad city.
Specialising in hard shell tacos – as opposed to the soft variety that can be found on most corners of the Northern Quarter – Crunched Tacos really brings the… Well, Crunch… Topping each and every shell with yummy fillings such as pulled pork, fried chicken, cauliflower cheese and vegan chilli. It’s the kind of street food that’s best enjoyed dripping down your arms, thanks to the cheesy, saucy, messy nature of the authentic lunch dish.
In addition to their array of hard shell tacos, guests can also tuck into an equally crunchy menu of loaded nachos, which can be topped with pulled pork, cheese sauce, guac, and even vegan chilli.
The fun taco truck joins the likes of Le Social Wine, Bread Flower and The Palms Bakery at Pollard Yard – a shipping container yard which has been transformed into a haven for small, independent businesses to trade from.
Crunched Tacos parks up there from Tuesday-Friday from 12-3pm, serving their fresh, real corn tacos that make for a seriously moreish Mexican treat. Keep up with the latest over on their Instagram.
