We might not be living in the Stone Age anymore, but you can still feast like you are as a Manchester restaurant has launched their very own ‘Caveman’ platters. Served on a chunky wooden board and towering with succulent meaty delights along with a hefty selection of sides, Embankment Kitchen has taken feasting to a whole new level with these ‘Caveman’ platters.
Grab your mates (or try to demolish it solo, if you dare) and tuck into the likes of a Cajun and lemon half roast chicken; a 12oz tomahawk steak that’s almost as big as your head; Moroccan lamb and garlic mini pizza topped with feta, pomegranate and rocket; chargrilled lamb rump with chimichurri; Cuban-style pulled pork tacos; spicy chicken lollipops; and BBQ chicken wings. We weren’t lying when we said it was a FEAST.
And if you’re still peckish or after some carbs to accompany the meat feast, diners can also enjoy sides such as chargrilled lemon asparagus, salt and pepper sweet potato fries, macaroni and cheese with a rosemary crumb, sautéed wild mushrooms and shallots and a mini Caesar salad.
But that’s not all. For those who’d rather a fishy feast than a meaty one, Embankment Kitchen also offers ‘Fisherman’ platters as well as ‘Caveman’ ones – and they are quite the catch! The platter is absolutely brimming with the best delights from the sea including garlic and lemon grilled lobster tail; chilli and lime prawns; Thai style fish cakes; salt and pepper squid with Asian salad; a whole plaice cooked in caper butter; beer battered fish goujons with tartare sauce; and crispy whitebait.
And like the Caveman platter, you’ll also receive a generous amount of sides including chargrilled lemon asparagus, garlic and Parmesan fries, a mini Caesar salad, and macaroni and cheese with a rosemary crumb. These platters are not for the small-stomached and I myself struggled to make a dent in it, but whether you’re after a meal with friends before hitting the town, heading to the theatre or another activity, you’ll certainly not be foraging for more food after this.
Both platters cost £85 each, but it works out just over £20 per person if a platter is shared between four people. You can book a table at Embankment Kitchen here.
