Many get excited by the main of Christmas dinner on December 25 like roast turkey and all the trimmings, but in our opinion the festive cheese board is certainly not to be sniffed at (although the pongier the better- am I right?) The good ol’ Camembert tends to come out to play during the Christmas period and one Manchester restaurant has made it their centrepiece in the form of an edible wreath, and we Camembert it!
The Northern Quarter spot home to a bar, restaurant, mini cinema and hotel, Ducie Street Warehouse, has announced an exciting new addition to their festive menu. Introducing the Edible Wreath designed by new Head Chef Scott Munro, the new menu item is set to be a unique Christmas feast for everyone.
The tear and share style dough ball wreath is topped with garlic and herb butter, alongside festive accoutrements like garlic, rosemary and cranberry and served with a baked camembert in the centre. The Edible Camembert Wreath, which is available for pre-order only and for advance bookings (no later than 48hours before) from December 1 until December 24, is perfect for sharing and recommended for groups of two to four.
Alongside this magnificently gooey masterpiece, Ducie Street Warehouse has also revealed a special Christmas Day menu on December 25, priced at £120 per person and £60 for children under 12, which includes three-course menu and snack on arrival. The menu highlights include chicken liver parfait, cranberry & port relish with toasted sourdough for starters.
Followed by mains including roast free range turkey breast, Massey’s roast potatoes, piccolo parsnips, sprouts & greens, pig in blankets & poultry gravy; and roast prime beef sirloin, Blackstick’s blue dauphinoise, baby vegetables & Tuscan kale with red wine jus. And finishing with something sweet, or either selection of British cheese with homemade fruit preserve & artisan crackers, or Garstang Blue, Mrs Kirkham’s Lancashire, Godminster vintage organic cheddar & Button Mill brie.
Fast forward to New Year’s Eve on Saturday 31st December, Ducie Street Warehouse will host a special Disco Brunch with Girls on Film and Banksie from 11am until 4pm. The evening will continue to see DJs and live performances taking over the warehouse until the New Year rings in.
