Viral Manchester dessert brand Buttercup Pudding Bar has announced that it will open its first standalone site in Manchester this autumn. The move marks the next chapter for Manchester’s only banana pudding bar, which launched as a home-based passion project in July 2025, followed by a nine-month residency at Deansgate General Store.
Since launching just over a year ago, Buttercup has served around 50,000 puddings, hosted sell-out pop-ups across the city and built a loyal following around its signature build-your-own pudding bar residency at General Store. Now, Buttercup will have a standalone space to call its own in Manchester, bringing its signature banana pudding, new flavours and build-your-own toppings concept to its first independent space.
Fans have until Bank Holiday Monday (August 31) to catch Buttercup at Deansgate General Store, which marks its final day trading from the site. Pudding flavours including Sticky Cornflake & Raspberry and Biscoff Tiramisu will join the signature Classic Banana Pudding for the last week.

Buttercup founder, Natasha Black, said: “This feels like the perfect step for Buttercup. It’s been such a pleasure to call General Store home for the past nine months, and I’m so grateful to the team there for helping us grow into what we are today.
“But as we continue to grow, now feels like the right time for us to step out on our own. I can’t wait for people to see what we’ve been working on and bring Buttercup to life in our own place!”
What to expect at the new standalone Buttercup site in Manchester
From opening day, Buttercup is promising brand new pudding flavours and a refreshed toppings selection – including cookie dough bites and brownies – alongside returning firm favourites. A new drinks menu is also in the works, while rotating specials will continue to bring new flavours and toppings to the counter throughout the year.
The new site will also see Buttercup continue its collaborations with some of the city’s best loved food brands and operators. The latest saw Buttercup team up with Manchester’s NYC slice phenomenon, Nell’s, to give its Sticky Cornflake & Raspberry pudding a frozen makeover, transforming the flavour into a limited-edition sell out gelato.
When does Buttercup leave Deansgate General Store?
Buttercup is open at Deansgate General Store on 9 Owen Street every day from now until Monday 31st August – from 12pm until 10pm or until stock sells out.
