Following the cancellation of the opening gig at Manchester’s new arena Co-op Live last night, AO Arena, one of the city’s large-scale arenas has announced it will host the artist instead. AO Arena has stepped in as Co-op Live has reported a “technical issue” and will now see rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie take to the stage of the Manchester city centre venue.
Announcing the news on social media, AO Arena said: “We’re excited to welcome A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and his fans to AO Arena this Saturday. It’s going to be a brilliant night and we can’t wait to see you all here. More ticket info will be available in due course.”
Carving his way to become one of the biggest names in hip-hop, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is best known for his collaborations with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Chris Brown and Meek Mill. The artist, who will perform at the AO Arena on May 4, also announced the news of a venue change, saying: “Yesterday’s cancelled Manchester show has been rescheduled for this Saturday at AO Arena! We won’t give up that easy let’s go!”
Last night (May 1), Co-op Live bosses said the A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie concert would not go ahead due to “a venue-related technical issue” and asked “fans to leave the area”. The rapper was set to take to the stage at 9pm on Wednesday evening – but at 6.40pm, the venue took to social media to inform fans that the show would no longer be going ahead.
Co-op Live also announced that the Olivia Rodrigo shows due to take place this bank holiday weekend have also been postponed. News of whether the venue for the Olivia Rodrigo shows will change or when shows will be rescheduled to is yet to be confirmed.
Co-op Live has already had to cancel and reschedule a number of high-profile gigs including postponing Peter Kay’s opening shows twice and pushing back The Black Keys concert. News of whether other acts set to take place at the UK’s largest venue in the coming days such as Keane and Take That is also yet to be determined.
