Strictly Come Dancing fans are in for a treat as Bury-born Emmerdale star Lisa Riley is set to join the Bolton Food and Drink Festival 2022 line-up, hosting a special afternoon tea with a twist. The TV star will be ‘spilling the tea’ on her showbiz career as she hosts the special event with Sushma Snacks later this month.
Most well known for her role as Mandy Dingle on the ITV soap, Lisa Riley will be on hand in the iconic Victorian town hall during the festival weekend, giving fans the opportunity to indulge in a specially curated menu while having some one-on-one time with her. Teaming up with Lisa is Bolton favourite Sushma Snacks, whose Indian-inspired take on the British classic has become a fan favourite with locals.
This afternoon tea is far from traditional – taking inspiration from her Indian heritage, Sushma’s menu consists of spicy potato and chicken tikka sandwiches packed full of flavour, with edible spoons smothered in crème cheese and smoked salmon, chicken samosas, vegetable spring rolls, and bhel – an Indian street food favourite. Plus, for dessert there will be mouth-watering masala chai scones, raspberry tarts with custard and refreshing mango cups with mint.
Returning for its 17th year, the North West’s biggest food and drink festival is back in action and bigger than ever before – transforming the streets of Bolton into a buzzing foodie paradise for four glorious days, with lots of free activities on offer. Packed full of delicious food and drink, visitors can expect over 180 market stalls and traders, celebrity chefs, cooking demonstrations and appearances from the likes of TV chefs The Hairy Bikers, Ainsley Harriott and James Martin.
But it’s not just food and drink on offer as Bolton Food and Drink Festival will also have live music and entertainment, comedy acts, street performers and a whole host of children’s activities. Bolton Food and Drink Festival will take place between August 26th and 29th, with the afternoon tea event with Lisa Riley taking place on Saturday 27th August from 2pm onwards. Tickets for the afternoon tea cost £30 each and can be purchased here.
