The duo behind Cantaloupe, the Stockport restaurant that won a Michelin Bib Gourmand, has announced that they are moving into the city centre. Their new venture, Rasade, will open this winter in the Northern Quarter, taking over the former TNQ restaurant with a menu inspired by France’s regions.
The à la carte menu will change with the seasons, and local produce will lead wherever the kitchen can source it. The cooking will stay rooted in French tradition, but the setting will feel like a relaxed, welcoming bistro rather than a formal dining room.

What to expect on the Rasade menu
The team has shared a few early dishes. Starters include oysters with mignonette, langoustine with Karri-Gosse and pâté de campagne. Mains include brill with rancio sec and mushroom fricassée and pork chop with garniture Mirabeau.
Desserts stay classic: a tarte Tatin designed for two, plus flan pâtissier and Opéra religieuse. The wine list will cover France’s many wine regions, from small and unusual producers to more established names.

From Stockport to Manchester city centre
Cantaloupe built its reputation as one of Stockport‘s most exciting independent restaurants. Besides the Michelin Bib Gourmand, which recognised its cooking and value, it earned praise from national food critics and a place in the Good Food Guide. Rasade takes the same focus on good produce, thoughtful cooking and informal hospitality in a new, French-inspired direction.
The name comes from the French word for a glass filled to the brim, traditionally with wine or another drink. It suits a restaurant built around good food, good drink and sharing a table.
Rasade hasn’t announced an opening date yet. You can follow the restaurant on Instagram for updates, or sign up for early access to bookings on its website.
