Every festive season without fail, we get extra excited for one thing, and one thing only: Porky Pig’s famous Yorkshire pudding wraps. Serving at the markets since 2016, the pop-up street food spot has become a Christmas institution in the city, and now, they’re returning for 2021. [Featured image: amyhn.eats]
Confirming the news on social media after Councillor Pat Karney revealed that the markets would be returning this year (after two years away due to the pandemic), Porky Pig said: “Manchester Christmas markets 2021 we are excited to see you guys this year it’s been too long” – and we wholeheartedly have to agree.
Returning with their beloved wraps, which can be filled with a meat of your choice, guests will be able to enjoy a selection of pork, gammon, beef, chicken and lamb, with veggies, stuffing and a choice of gravies to finish it off with, all wrapped up in a tasty parcel made from a giant Yorkshire pudding.
Attracting queues down the street for the delicious creations, Porky Pig regularly experiments with new showstoppers, which have previously included battered pigs in blankets and even massive pigs in blankets wrapped in a huge Yorkie pud.
This year, fans will also be able to fill up on battered pigs in blankets, pigs in blankets barms, Yorkshire puddings filled with carvery, and the return of the giant pig in a blanket wrapped in a Yorkie pud.
The Manchester Christmas Markets are set to return on the 12th November til 22nd December, with Porky Pig and a number of other regulars returning for the festive fun.
Back in September, Porky Pig announced the closure of their city-centre restaurant, citing the pandemic as the reason for their decision. Porky Pig will continue to trade at Manchester Christmas Markets and Old Trafford.
