As the weather starts to turn our favourite al fresco spots of the summer are no longer the destination du jour, resulting in many Mancs in search of cosy surroundings to sit back with a drink and warming food. Arriving this winter to offer an escape from the bitterly cold temperatures is a magical winter garden at Embankment Kitchen, bringing with a scrumptious seasonal menu.
Located on the ground floor of Manchester’s 5-star luxury aparthotel CitySuites and overlooking Manchester’s historic cathedral, Embankment Kitchen is just moments away from all of the hustle and bustle of the city’s Christmas markets. Adorned with fairy lights, the Winter Garden is an outdoor extension of the Embankment Kitchen restaurant & bar and will offer a full service of food and drinks – including Christmas cocktails, mulled wine, and other hot toddies.
The Winter Garden at CitySuites will be a relaxed seating area with soft furnishings ideal for snuggling in and getting cosy. Up above, delicate fairy lights set the scene for a romantic date night or a much needed catch up with friends. Surrounding the garden will be rich green ferns and evergreens bringing a touch of nature to this city centre spot.
The Winter Garden will offer a drinks, seasonal cocktails ,and Embankment Kitchen’s all-new winter menu created by new head chef and Master Chef: The Professionals quarter finalist, Josh Singleton. The winter menu starters include slow braised beef cheek on filo pastry served with a smooth carrot puree, pickles and onion mayonnaise; oak smoked salmon with a unique twist served with watercress and a tomato and blackberry salad; and salt baked artichoke paired with garlic aioli, herb granola, feta and artichoke purée.
Seasonal mains include venison loin partnered with crispy kale, roasted pumpkin, pearl barley and a sweet blackberry jus; sea bream served with spinach, broad beans and a lemon and butterbean cassoulet; and a rich goat’s cheese and pumpkin risotto served with roasted broccoli and charred lemon. To finish, you can tuck into a warming sticky toffee pudding or indulge in a sweet Malva pudding served with apricot jam and warm vanilla custard.
Embankment Kitchen’s all new seasonal cocktails are the perfect accompaniment to this seasonal menu, or a gorgeous tipple to enjoy alone. Guests can enjoy an Embankment Kitchen special Spiced Negroni, a proper winter warmer with spiced rum, Aperol, sweet vermouth, fireball, apple juice and mulled spiced syrup made in house. Alternatively, if you are after something sweet, try the Chocolate Orange, a rich Bailey’s-based cocktail crafted with Aperol, Mozart Chocolate Cream, orange bitter, orange zest and cream.
