We don’t blame you if the idea of stepping foot further than your frost-covered doorstep isn’t top of your list this chilly Christmas season. But the bitter winds and icy streets will be nothing but a distant memory once you enter the festive haven of Winter Funland. The indoor fairground will have you shedding your thick coats and unwinding the boa-constrictor-like scarf wound around your neck within moments of arrival; eyes sparkling with the sight of a helter skelter and nose twitching as the aromas of hot dogs float on by. Coming to Bowler’s Exhibition Centre on December 20, Winter Funland’s array of delights will be enough to entice even the grumpiest of grinches out their door.
You’ll want to round up your friends or family for a trip to this Christmassy utopia. A festival, fairground and circus rolled into one; there is no shortage of entertainment peppered around the massive venue. Dodgems are at hand if you fancy working out a bit of that sibling rivalry that’s been bubbling below the surface. If you’re after something a bit more leisurely, you can hop on a horse for an undulating ride on the carousel. Want to feel the wind in your hair? Go for a whizz down the Helter skelter. You won’t need to keep digging in your pocket for spare change either – each ride and attraction is included in the ticket price.
If you’re treating the kids to a festive day out, it won’t be long before you feel them tugging on your sleeve. Follow their gaze across the funland, and you’ll likely see a somersaulting acrobat or colourful clown in the distance. This is where the circus part comes in. Alongside some goofy antics and amazing acrobatics there will also be a traditional Punch and Judy show.
This fabulous funland knows that the idea of crowds can be a concern when it comes to Covid-19. In an effort to put minds at ease and make you feel safe, they will be asking everyone over the age of 12 years old to show proof of double vaccination or a negative lateral flow test taken within 48 hours.
To help immerse you in Christmassy goodness the space will be decked out with giant candy canes, twinkling lights and plenty of shiny baubles. You can also look out for the fluffy polar bears nestled among the pine trees. There may be a certain jolly bearded gentleman dressed in red that will be there to grant some Christmas wishes and some friendly elves spreading festive cheer. Plus, while you’re there, don’t forget to check out Cantina’s Grotto. Make sure you don’t miss out this December and grab your tickets here.
