The first-ever JD Wetherspoon pub at Manchester Airport has officially opened at Terminal 2, with a name and décor inspired by an iconic Mancunian location. The pub known as The Belle Vue, gives a nod to the city’s historic showground that housed a pub, zoological gardens, greyhound racing and a speedway track.

The Belle Vue: The first JD Wetherspoon pub at Manchester Airport
The 300-seater pub has design features inspired by the city’s sporting heritage, including vintage event posters and memorabilia, a ‘locker wall’ hosting trophies and other sporting exhibits, and a cricket-themed design in the carpets and bar panels. The JD Wetherspoon pub at Manchester Airport will be open from the first flight to the final flight each day and food will be served from opening until 10pm.

The Belle Vue is the final planned new eatery to open in the airport’s redeveloped Terminal 2, marking one of the last steps in the terminal’s decade-long, £1.5bn transformation. The airport terminal has more than doubled in size to become the Northern hub’s focal point and win a prestigious UNESCO-backed architecture award.

“We know that it will prove extremely popular with passengers”
Richard Jackson, Retail Director at Manchester Airport, said: “It’s a proud moment to see the final new retail unit opening in our new-look Terminal 2, a world-class facility with an unrivalled range of options for passengers to eat, drink and shop.
“To be rounding off this 10-year programme by adding such an iconic name as Wetherspoon to the terminal is particularly special and we know that it will prove extremely popular with passengers. We think they’ll love the nods to Manchester’s heritage in the décor and design – and of course the name.”

Pub manager Jenny Warburton said: “Myself and my team are looking forward to welcoming customers into The Belle Vue and we are confident that the pub will be a great addition to the airport hospitality venues.”
