Sun, sun, sun.
If you’re one of the lucky group to have received both vaccines by the summertime, you could potentially have the chance to enjoy a holiday abroad.
Portugal has today announced that British tourists are to be permitted to travel there from May this year. May 17 has been earmarked as the earliest day that Brits could enter Portugal. Rita Marques, Portugal’s Tourist Minister, said holidaymakers could enter provided each traveller has been vaccinated or tests negative for Covid-19.
Currently, flights from the UK to Portugal remain suspended due to concerns over new Covid variants. It was also only until March 19 that Portugal was on Britain’s red-list, meaning arrivals were forced to quarantine at a hotel at their own expense.
All of this is still subject to change at any time, but for those praying for a holiday abroad in the summer, this news is a step in the right direction. Currently, travellers out of Britain face the risk of a fine if they don’t have an essential reason for doing so. While this ruling is expected to be lifted in some form before summer, it’s likely to be worth waiting for clarification before booking your sunny trip away.
