This year’s festive season in Manchester has been brighter than ever before thanks to the city’s brand new light show – and fortunately for us, the magic isn’t set to end at Christmas. Located in Mayfield Park, Manchester city centre’s first new public park in more than 100 years, the enchanting winter light show known as The Twilight Trail is gearing up for its grand finale this December 31, and it’s well and truly set to go out with a bang.
Launching earlier in the season on November 17, The Twilight Trail at Mayfield Park has been a welcome (and glowing) new addition to Manchester’s festive calendar, offering the perfect family and dog-friendly Christmas light trail for not only residents, but visitors wishing to experience more than just the busy Christmas Markets.
In partnership with Mayfield Park and Freight Island, the immersive winter light show offers an array of enchanting lighting installations taking over the 6.5-acre park, finishing at neighbouring Escape to Freight Island where guests can stay to enjoy further festivities – such as Christmas-themed street food and tons of live entertainment.
This New Year’s Eve, guests can also enjoy a 12-minute fireworks display which will glitter over Mayfield Park at 9pm, with music for the event provided by Freight Island frequents, La Discothèque. The special event will also mark the official end of the hugely successful event.
Tickets are available now – with tickets priced at £15 for adults and £12 for children for New Year’s Eve – and adult tickets also include entry to Freight Island’s The Little Disco NYE Party, which will run until 2am. The social destination’s special festive menu will be available, too, throughout the day, including the Seconds Carvery with a festive twist, Smoking Coal German BBQ, Cocoa Cabana’s epic hot chocolates and so much more.
The New Year’s Eve trail will begin at 8pm, with tickets expected to sell out quickly. You can book The Twilight Trail at Mayfield Park here. To book a table at Winter Island and find out more about what’s on, head to the website here.
