You may love a chippy on a Friday (or any day of the week for that matter) from your local chip shop, but what if you could tuck into a chippy whilst you have a drink at the bar? We all know chips and a bev are a match made in heaven, especially on a night out, and now new dining spot, Trippy Chippy, is coming to YES in Manchester, meaning you can have both.

Chip connoisseurs can rejoice as the UK’s first ever chip shop in a bar as made its way to the independent live music venue and levelling up the chip-shop classic with its twice cooked skin-on fries served in a cone with inventive house-made toppings. And the team promise to bring Manchester’s first ‘chippy trifle’ to the as the cones are assembled with sauce and toppings layered up for a chip/topping experience that lasts throughout the whole delicious chippy meal. Dry chips at the bottom of the cone – be gone!

Choose from a selection of large or small chip cones with toppings including Trippy Chippy’s signature paprika house seasoning, truffle mayo and parmesan cheese or curry ketchup. As well as cones, trippy trays are also available (all of which are gluten-free) and served with an array of delicious and dreamy toppings including gravy and cheddar; pancetta, sriracha mayo and Gran Moravia cheese; or a vegan option of rosemary salt, mushrooms, garlic aioli and crispy shallots.

Declan Anderson, General Manager at YES said: “We wanted to bring something new, delicious and affordable to the city and felt that doing something special with the humble chip was the best way to achieve this. The team have worked hard on creating some incredible toppings and as true chip connoisseurs ourselves, we believe we’ve perfected the experience – addressing the niggles of loaded fries, the challenges of sauce distribution and just ensuring that the recipes are tried, tested and maxed out on deliciousness. We look forward to welcoming Manchester’s chip lovers!”
