A family favourite in the Bolton area, Curley’s Dining Rooms is the Rivington adjacent eatery serving proper fish and chips with local produce, alongside afternoon tea. Whilst overlooking Curley’s Fishery, diners can tuck into the very British hearty meal, or pretty much any other classic dish including Beef Suet Rag Pudding and filled barms, washed down with a finely crafted cocktail or craft beer.
The Curley’s summer menu, though, includes something of a genius invention that we can’t believe we’ve never been blessed with before: the fish and chips afternoon tea. Combining all the best bits of the seaside classic, the afternoon tea offers bite-sized portions of fish and chips alongside your usual sandwiches and sweet treats.
The tiered platter comes equipped with Curley’s mini fish goujons and chips, complete with pots of coleslaw, salad garnish and tartare sauce, as well as your choice of finger sandwiches, a homemade mini quiche and a small cup of homemade soup – truly soup for the soul.
There is, of course, a sweet tier to satisfy those cravings, which includes a fruit scone with pots of jam and clotted cream, and a selection of mini patisseries including macarons, coconut macaroons and mini eclairs. The afternoon tea also comes with the option of either a pot of tea or a cup of coffee, as well as the option to upgrade to a mini bottle of prosecco for just £4.50 each, if you really fancy treating yourself and a loved one! Dogs are also always welcome, so don’t hesitate to bring your furry friends.
Curley’s is a real local family place, and perfect for a treat especially in the summer months, overlooking the lake after a day of walking around Rivington and the surrounding area. Curley’s also provides a lovely selection of cocktails, hot drinks and snacks, so feel free to pop in for something a little lighter.
What’s more, Curley’s in-house ice cream parlour Frederick’s is renowned in the local area for being exquisite, housing a massive variety of flavours, making it the perfect place to pop in and cool down on a sweltering summer’s day.
The afternoon tea is served daily from 2pm, with 24 hour’s notice required to book and a £10 deposit per person. The afternoon tea price is £22.95 per person, and you can book by calling Curley’s on 01204 691 783.
