Buile Hill Park, Salford, is home to a very special mobile cafe, known as Betsy to friends, and The Travelling Teapot to everyone else. The 1970s caravan instantly puts a smile on your face, painted a vibrant baby pink, and complete with a handle and spout, as well as the phrase ‘Sip-a-tea-doo-dah!‘ written in scripture down the front side.
Serving indulgent hot chocolates, spritely coffees and chilled teas, the Travelling Teapot has so much to offer, utilising ingredients from local businesses including Salford Roasters and Bird and Blend. Betsy also provides in the warmer weather that we’re hoping for, with a selection of iced teas, milkshakes and sundaes available, all homemade and crafted with the freshest ingredients.
There are also plenty of nibbles and sweet treats available, the perfect accompaniment for a sit-down and a cuppa at the end of a walk around the park. Whether you’re a brownie fan, nuts for carrot cake or prefer a traditional shortbread, Betsy has you covered.
What’s more, being in a park, the Travelling Teapot caters very well for your pooch, too, with enough puppucinos and treats to go around the entire park. What a treat after a dog walk!
The duo behind the Travelling Teapot are friends and businesswomen in arms, Maria and Vicky. She’s hard to miss – wherever you are in Buile Hill Park, you can most likely see Betsy’s pink hues, which is exactly what the owners wanted.
On opening the teapot for business this New Year just gone, the team posted on social media: “So after 15 months of working hard getting our business started we’ve finally got all our licenses sorted and the work really starts.
