In case you’ve been living under a rock, Taylor Swift is set to arrive in the North West this week as the singer takes her ‘Eras’ Tour to Liverpool. And although the 14 Grammy winner won’t be performing in Manchester (no bad blood, Taylor), at least Swifties along some of the M62 corridor will be able to head home in style as TransPennine Express (TPE) has announced it will run an extra late-night train service between Liverpool and Manchester after the Taylor Swift gig. It’s not a cruel summer, after all!
On the night of Saturday 15th June, the late night train service will allow attendees of the Taylor Swift concert taking place at Anfield Stadium, home of Liverpool FC, to long live the memories of the show. Departing from Liverpool Lime Street at 23:32 and calling at Liverpool South Parkway, Warrington Central, and Birchwood, the extra late-night train will arrive at Manchester Piccadilly at 00:34.
For Thursday 13th June and Friday 14th June, anyone heading home after the Taylor Swift show can do so in style by making use of the direct late night train service leaving Liverpool Lime Street at 00.18 to Manchester Victoria, which was recently introduced as part of the June 2024 timetable change. Better still, fans travelling to the concert can also look out for some lover sweets that will be handed out onboard across the three days of the tour (June 13, 14 and 15).
Kathryn O’Brien, Customer Experience & Transformation Director at TransPennine Express, said: “We are pleased to be able to offer this extra service to help get fans home after enjoying the concert. And as customers know all too well, it’s not a bad idea to check before you travel.”
Fans who haven’t yet purchased their rail tickets to travel to the concert can do so via TPE’s website. Further information for anyone heading to the Taylor Swift concert at Anfield can be found here.
